1) In 10 words or less tell us what makes you so freakin’ awesome…and don’t be modest. Let ‘er rip.
Simple enough: I dedicate my life to change.
2) Did you (or do you currently) have an imaginary friend(s)? If so, tell us a little about him/her/it/them.
This is a fun story! When I was a little girl, my sister and I had a whole community of imaginary friends. We lived in remote Alaska, with no neighbors to speak of, which I think explains why we had so many oddly creative games! Anyways, there were maybe 50 invisible people imagined between the two of us, and they each had names and ages and backstories and families. For example, Gloria was a 16-year-old college-bound Asian-American who was introverted but extremely kind & sweet. She had a little sister who was 13 and another little sister who was 6. It was definitely a weird game!
3) Do you believe in ghosts?
Yes. My beliefs aim more at reincarnation and cycling of energy, but I also do believe that at death, a bit of a person’s energy stays behind while the rest cycles on. Those pieces of energy watch us & haunt us & thank us. I get intense cold chills every time that I deal with transgender issues at Gay-Straight Alliance meetings or at work, and I believe that sensation is the ghost (or energy) of a particular deceased transgender person thanking me for what I’m doing. Crazy? Maybe! But I believe it 100%.
4) What one thing scares the ever-loving crap out of you more than anything else in the whole wide world?
Mortality. It freaks me out that one day, I’m going to cycle on myself. I know that it’s 100% natural and part of the order of things, but it totally keeps me up at night!
5) Sunrise, sunset, new moon or full moon?
Sunrise. I love walking out by the ocean in the early morning, feeling the cool sea air & smelling the salt while the sun turns the sky pink. It’s the most peaceful feeling ever — it even manages to slow down my hyper-active over-thinking mind!
6) If you had to live the rest of your life inside one book or movie, what would it be and why?
Oh dear. I don’t read a lot or watch a lot of movies, honestly, but I did watch The Runaways and I think I’d like to live inside that. It’s a crazy lifestyle and so different from my own straight-edge, activism-laden existence, but it fascinates me in a bizarre way.
7) It’s the zombie apocalypse. The person you love more than anyone, anywhere, ever has been bitten by one of the walking dead. It is inevitable that they will turn into a flesh-eating monster. What do you do?
If my sister turned into a zombie, I’d have her bite me and we’d keep at our adventuring, brain-sucking style. No big deal!

Well! Here’s something I’m super pumped about lately. My blogging friend, Angie, and I are starting a website for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender teenagers. The goal is to celebrate their lives, instead of feed the media’s obsession with queer teen violence & suicide. We’re hoping to create something like a magazine that a queer teen would read for fun, covering topics like relationships, school, friends, and hobbies.
