Instagram – a wonderful hybrid. It’s what happens 9 months after Pinterest & your diary get drunk and have unprotected sex. On the surface Instagram seems to be nothing more than a photographic sea of people’s meals, half-dressed people flexing in front of their bathroom mirrors (I’m disturbed by how many people lack basic housecleaning skills. Invest in a sponge & a bottle of Method guys. Seriously. Ewww.), manicures & lots of photos of people’s feet.
But not everyone posting pics is a slave to mediocrity and the status quo. There are some badass Instagram-ers out there. Artists, designers, hardcore cat fanatics, and people with an excellent eye & impeccable style…they’re there. You just have to know where to look. Not enough brooding, ethereal darkness for you? Then be sure to visit old_hag’s feed. You won’t find her photographs of the Swedish landscape in any Ikea. After viewing her photos I have no doubt that the forests of Sweden are populated entirely by witches & dark fairies.

Everyone needs a little dose of cute and cats certainly fit the bill. Who doesn’t smile, whose heart doesn’t melt a little whenever they see a little furball doing something adorable?
