My Life Is A Little Hairy…

I love you more

I am fully aware I have been scattered lately but I had no idea I have been so scattered that I completely forgot to share week 22 of Project 52 and skipped right to weeks 23 and 24.  Oops!

And while not my most artistic pieces, they are certainly some of my most dear, which is appropriate given the week’s theme was “My Life.”  I’m pretty sure you can all guess who the subjects of these photos are.  Yeah you can…because I’m predictable and we all know the sun rises and sets around a particular furball around here.

Yup.  You guessed it.  Mischa.  So week 22’s photos are of Mischa and the most recent addition to the family, Lavender (formerly the neighbor’s cat…long story involving their cat-hating dog and a cat with nowhere to go that was standing with her nosed pressed to glass of the back door as the temperatures and the snow fell this past winter).

TITLE:  MY MISCHA

Mischa has been with me for fifteen years.  He’s been my best friend and seen me through the hardest moments of my life as well as my greatest joys.  And now with Lavender he has a…well…I’m not sure what she is to him…they act like brothers and sisters, snuggling one moment and squabbling the next, so I suppose siblings they are.

Mischa hasn’t had a fury buddy to pal around with since we lost his big, 100+ pounds of nothing but hair canine brother, Lakota, to liver failure resulting from cancer in 2006 and he took the loss hard.  Fortunately Lakota, being the good natured, dutiful and loving herding dog of a big brother that he was, came back about once a week for a few months after his death to hang out and play with Mischa (and if you’ve never seen a cat hauling ass and wrestling around on the floor with a dog you can’t see but can totally smell (Lakota was cute but boy did that boy have a funk all his own) then you’ve missed out on one of life’s funnier and more bizarre sights) and it really seemed to help Mischa with his grieving.

To see Mischa have a new non-human playmate to wrestle with and love on makes my heart happy…and knowing that Lavender is now in a home that is free from the emotional and physical distress she faced in a house full of cat-hating dogs makes my heart doubly happy.  It’s a win-win-win.  A trifecta of winning-ness.

They are two of my favorite parts of my life and everyday I am thankful I get to share it with them.  My life wouldn’t be complete without them.
