IT’S ALREADY OCTOBER 28.  How the hell did that happen?  I blinked and there it went. My favorite month gone in a flash.  I’ve had about zero time for my usual Halloween festivities (I have, admittedly, been a bit distracted as of late…but it’s a nice distraction so I can’t complain.) and I still haven’t decided on a Halloween costume.

Four days until Halloween and still no costume.

IT WOULD SEEM I’M SLACKING OFF in my old age. *wink*  I’m sure I’m not alone in my desperate search for last minute Halloween finery, so I’ve compiled this list of quick and easy (and completely badass) DIY costumes.  No trampy cops or slutty Little Red Riding Hoods here (don’t get me started on using Halloween costumes as a way to put your daddy issues on display) – just ghoulish getups and deadly disguises to transform you from fabulous to fabulously frightening.

Boy is my face red

I WAS OUT OF TOWN ON A DATE THIS PAST WEEKEND (whaaaaat?!?!?  I know, I know.  I’m not one to kiss and tell but…*swoon* abridged details to follow) and the artist that made a ring out of his skin came up.  I grabbed my phone and tried to pull up the post and what did I find?  Kisses & Chaos was gone!  *GASP*

I HAD A HICCUP with my site renewals and down they went.  I had no idea they were down.

BOY IS MY FACE RED.

I’M SO SORRY for any inconvenience this caused.  Please accept my apologies.  I love your guts and I’m so sorry I dropped the ball.  My head has been in la-la-land and I was completely oblivious to what was going on here (you can blame my new beau for hijacking my brain.  Please email him directly with your complaints at ThanksALotRob@kissesandchaos.com  – help me with some good-natured teasing as we give a little trick to my treat).

I PROMISE it will never ever ever happen again.  Scouts honor (please disregard the fact that I was never a boy scout for what I consider to be obvious reasons).

Kisses & Chaos,
Alli Woods Frederick

TO GET IN THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT I’ve created something special for you.  This is the tragic tale of the Bitterman sisters, two young girls who met an untimely end.  Enjoy, my dears, enjoy.

The Tragic Tale of The Bitterman Sisters

The Tragic Tale of The Bitterman Sisters_wm

HAVE YOU HEARD THE TRAGIC TALE OF THE BITTERMAN SISTERS?
It’s almost too sad to repeat.
Those poor, poor girls so sad and alone
were lost to the briny deep.

The year was eighteen ninety.
The girls a mere five and seven.
Their family’s boat, the S.S. Devote,
was transporting some peppers to Devon.

The Captain and first mate regaled them
with tales of huge beasts from the deep.
The eldest sat there enthralled as the little one bawled
and the crew dared not make a peep.

Then out of nowhere came a creek, thud and BANG!
The boat lurched as the crew sprang to their feet.
The first mate snatched the girls right up by their curls
into the lifeboat he put them tout de suite.

The lifeboat fell SPLASH! to the water.
The girls held each other and cried.
The ship quickly went down as every man drown.
The girls lived while all the rest died.

Adrift in the sea they were frightened
as they recalled the tales they’d been told.
As the little girls sobbed the boat danced and bobbed
and the commotion awoke something old.

The ancient beast sent its tentacles skyward
and stealthily found its prey.
The girls, fraught with despair, were caught unaware.
From the beast’s grip they could not break away.

Into the dark depths he dragged them.
Their struggling stopped as did their breath.
They would never be saved from their watery grave.
Their lifeboat is all that was left.

That is the tale of the Bitterman sisters.
It’s a tale of tragedy and woe.
Some still hear them cry as their boat passes by
where they lost their lives so long ago.
