Beer and Playing with Power Tools

YES, I am aware it’s Thursday, but time is relative and just a silly way for humans to keep track of our mortality and credit card bills…not to mention I just felt like rockin’ the gratitude a day early because I’m wild and out of control like that, so look out.  I’m unpredictable and dangerous…a woman on the edge, capable of anything.  (Okay.  You can stop laughing at me now.)

Beer and Playing with Power Tools

As I discussed in yesterday’s Project 52 post I have most decidedly NOT been feelin’ the love lately.  The infamous and eponymous “they” say to fake it till you make it and that’s precisely what this is – my attempt to try and maneuver myself through this Alice meets rabbit hole funk and hopefully eventually land back in Wonderland sooner rather than later.  I miss my version of normality & my twisted joy, damnit, and since it seems unwilling (or at least extremely reluctant) to return on its own I am going to seek it out and try to make it my bitch, erm, I mean lovingly coax it back into being.  So here goes nothing…

NEW ORLEANS, BEER AND PLAYING WITH POWER TOOLS BECAUSE THAT’S HOW I ROLL

Beer and Playing with Power Tools

*  MY BACK is finally feeling better after I tweaked it doing yoga last week.  My first time with sciatica and it sucked.  No matter how you move it hurts.  I have a new level of empathy for my former massage clients that suffered from it chronically.  Thank freakin’ god it’s almost gone.  Hellz yeah.  *  MISCHA PLAYING.  And I mean full tilt, balls to the wall running and wrestling just like a kitten…and just like he used to do before he got sick.  He’s also put on a lot of weight and I can no longer hear his acid reflux from across the room.  All AMAZING developments for which I am beyond grateful.  Grateful doesn’t even actually cover it.  There is no word to express my joy and thankfulness.  It.  Was.  Glorious.  *  PLANNING ROAD TRIPS.  I have been so desperate to get out of town and get away from daily life and it looks like I’ll get to take a jaunt next month to one of my favorite places in the world, New Orleans.  You have no idea how much I miss the deep South.  I’m too far North for my tastes and have been missing my bayous, cypress knees, gators and Spanish moss like a mofo…not to mention some old friends…and hopefully getting to finally meet some new ones.  My heart feels lighter just thinking about it.  *

Saint Louis Cemetery New Orleans

*  NEW PROJECTS IN NEW MEDIUMS.  It feels so great to get to stretch my creative muscles and venture out into a new creative landscape.  I forgot how relaxing & meditative it is to work with power tools.  Drills, a jigsaw and my trusted Dremel are my babies right now.  If you follow me on Instagram then you might have seen a little post that hints at the new creations.  *  NEW PHOTO SERIES.  Inspiration finally struck for a new photo series which I can’t wait to get started on after Halloween.  And while we’re on the subject…  *  HALLOWEEN.  This is the time of year I stock up on my handmade supplies and by stock up I mean clean out Michaels with every restock.  How else am I supposed to keep myself stocked with skulls for all my skull related projects?  Damn I love Halloween.

 *  YARN.  Though I haven’t had a chance to look yet, my evil twin, Natali (yeah…you are the evil one because you had to go and tell me about this damn yarn and you know I can’t resist.  I will forego essentials like food and diet coke for some badass yarn (yes, diet Coke is an essential…just see what I’m like without one for breakfast…and yes that’s my breakfast.  I’m an adult and I can have soda for breakfast if I damn well please…unless it’s winter in which case it’s coffee or warm golden milk)…but I digress) has informed me that Isaac Mizrahi, who I am ambivalent about, has a new line of yarn out and according to The Wonder Woman of Evil Crafting it is pretty f’ing awesome.  Curiosity piqued.  I’m stocking up ASAP so I can get started on those knitting projects I mentioned the other day.

wonder-woman-watercolor-by-ganech-joe

*  NEW FRIENDS.  I’ve made some new ones that are proving to be pretty badass and I can’t wait until I’m in their neck of the woods so we can talk about crazy sh*t and have a beer.  *  OLD FRIENDS.  I also found out an old friend of mine has been crazy sick and stuck in the hospital but is on the mend and will be returning home soon (in fact, by the time you read this he may already be resting in his own bed) and I’m so thankful he’s recovering and returning home to his family.  *  BLOG FRIENDS.  In particular, the adorable and spunky Sarah of The Laughing Medusa who has been so insanely sweet and patient with all my recent drama/bullsh*t/listlessness/depression.  She has been so supportive, even in the midst of her own busy life stuff.  I can’t thank her enough.

So what has your Spidey senses tingling this month?  What is making your lips twist into a smile, your pulse quicken and your stomach get all fluttery?  What is tickling your fancy and making you want to sing from the mountaintops like a badass, bodacious version of Julie Andrews?

Dish your deliciousness in the comments below and share your gratitude…spread it around like fertilizer that will help happiness grow.  Okay…so maybe comparing gratitude to cow sh*t isn’t the best metaphor, but I’m standing by it anyway.  Until next time, my dears…

A CREATIVE CRASH AND BURN

CONFESSION:  I am now, officially, 15 weeks behind on Project 52.  Awesome.  Good job.  Why am I 15 weeks behind?  Two reasons:

1)  Life.  It has a tendency to interfere on occasion with life-y things and
2)  A total lack of interest & inspiration

As you know I’ve been stressed.  I’ve also been busy trying to get ready for October (which tends to be one of my busier months as far as my handmade business goes).  But if I’m truly honest with you, I’ve been in a pretty big funk.  What fun.  Add all that to the fact that Project 52 started to feel more like a burden than a fun way to flex my creative muscles and I was done.  Down for the count.

I SUFFERED A CREATIVE CRASH AND BURN

A CREATIVE CRASH AND BURN

I have been spreading myself way (and I mean waaaaaay) too thin both personally and professionally and it all became too much.  Project 52 was just one more thing on my already maxed out to-do list so instead of being a to-do it quickly became a to-don’t bordering on an I-don’t-give-a-f*ck.  So I stopped.  I quit.  Instead I began focusing on more handmade pieces and personal projects – two things I had been neglecting in a really big way.

A CREATIVE CRASH AND BURN

But as I was cleaning up my desktop and sifting through files I realized I have several that I could have sworn I shared with you but, lo and behold, my burnt out ass must have imagined it because after an exhaustive search of Kisses & Chaos the posts and images in question were nowhere to be found.  (I know I posted them, damnit.)  So here I am, presenting them to you for what I’m fairly certain is the second time (thanks to the goblins that live in the internet aether that ate the original posts which have disappeared…I swear I know I shared them with you before…*shaking head in frustration and confusion*).  Enjoy the déjà vu, my dears.

While I’m still not 100% emotionally or creatively, I am trying.  I am trying to trim the fat, reorganize, prioritize and get back in the groove (which, if Lady Miss Kier is to be believed, is in the heart)…and that includes Project 52 and the not-the-bit-daunting 15 (and growing) image game of catch up I get to play.  Damn good thing I enjoy a challenge, work well under pressure and have a brain that never shuts the hell up (despite my fervent protests).

I’ve been missing you guys like mad.  Here’s to hoping I get my sh*t together and that life quits riding my ass so I can focus.  MUWHA!  Love you my lovely ladies and gents.

TOP 10 LIST FOR AN AWESOME AUTUMN

AUTUMN is upon us.  It’s here and I am all over it.  Fall is my favorite season.  Well…fall, winter and spring (summer can take its oppressive heat and sunshine and go back to the hell from whence it came) but I still really, really, really love fall.

The temperature finally becomes tolerable.  There’s a smell to the air that’s all its own, much like the crisp smell of winter just before a snowfall or the fresh, clean ozone and soil smell after a spring rain.  As the leaves turn, so does the air and so does my mood.  Have I mentioned I love fall?

TOP 10 LIST FOR AN AWESOME AUTUMN

The year of my divorce autumn completely passed me by.  It was like I went to sleep and awoke to winter.  I’m still not sure how that happened, but I vowed to never let it happen again.  To ensure I stay true to my word I have put together a list (you know me and my lists…and my babbling…and my babbling lists) of must-do fall essentials.

FALL FROLICKS:  MY TOP 10 LIST FOR AN AWESOME AUTUMN

TOP 10 LIST FOR AN AWESOME AUTUMN

1)  PUMPKIN SPICE LATTES (shocking, I know).  In case you haven’t heard the latte-licious news, Starbucks released the beloved Pumpkin Spiced Latte early this year (PSL’s to my fellow pumpkin spiced caf-fiends), which means I’m going to drink them until my blood turns to cinnamon and someone tries to turn me into a jack o’ lantern…or until my heart stops…whichever comes first.

::  SPACE GHOST – COFFEE  ::

2)  VISIT A CORN MAZE.  I did this a few years ago with my ex-husband who insisted on using the map rather than trying to solve the puzzle.  We were finished with the huge maze in 15 minutes – not quite what I had in mind. *pout* So I want to visit another corn maze, preferably at night (there are a few nighttime corn mazes around the country…hopefully there’s one near here) and this time?  No map.  Getting lost is half the fun, don’t you think?

TOP 10 LIST FOR AN AWESOME AUTUMN

3)  EMBRACE MY INNER SHOPPING WHORE.  It’s almost time for Halloween which can only mean one thing…serious shopping binges.  Not only is it time to grab some good layering pieces, sweaters, coats, boots and over-the-knee socks (I love fall fashion) but it’s also time to hit Target, Michaels, Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn and all points in between that carry the most badass and non-cheesy Halloween decorations (which are used for everyday home décor in my digs).  I’m talking silver studded skulls, mercury glass bottles marked poison, phrenology busts, spiders, ghosts, skulls and witchy things galore.  While my pocketbook might be sad, my eyes and soul are happy being surrounded by spooky and stunning odds and ends.  Oh my, yes.

TOP 10 LIST FOR AN AWESOME AUTUMN

4)  HAVE A PASSIONATE AFFAIR WITH THE TELEVISION.  13 Nights of Halloween on ABC Family.  And of course any and all Halloween related viewing.  Time to soak in my annual dose of haunted travel shows, scary movies, and Halloween specials.  My only wish is that Disney would bring back the old school classic Disney Halloween Special.  I lived for that special when I was a kid.  *insert nostalgic sigh here*

::  Disney Halloween Special  ::

5)  DECLARE WEDNESDAYS AND SUNDAYS HOLY DAYS.  While we’re on the topic of TV (I’m beginning to wonder if I might have a problem here…but honestly, it’s only a small handful of shows I’m addicted to and when I say addicted I mean I will cut a bitch if these beloved shows are in any way interrupted) it’s only a few weeks until October.  What’s the big deal?  Oh, it’s only the season premiers of American Horror Story (premiering Wednesday, October 8, on FX) and The Walking Dead (premiering Sunday, October 12, on AMC).  Sideshow freaks and zombies.  Be still my heart.

TOP 10 LIST FOR AN AWESOME AUTUMN

::  THE WALKING DEAD SEASON 5 TRAILER  ::

6)  EMBRACE MY INNER (BUT DARK AND TWISTED) MARTHA STEWART.  It’s baking time, bitches.  True to form, pretty much the only thing I bake in the fall aside from the occasional apple pie is wall to wall pumpkin – pumpkin spiced muffins, pumpkin bread, pumpkin spice cookies, pumpkin pie.  If it can be baked I’ll find a way to put pumpkin in it…which just gave me an idea.  Expect a pumpkin based DIY or DIE later this fall (and no, it’s not another pumpkin facial.  I told you I’ll put pumpkin in anything).

TOP 10 LIST FOR AN AWESOME AUTUMN

7)  BUST OUT THE NEEDLES.  I always put off knitting my winter sweaters, scarves and hats until…well…winter.  Which is stupid because it’s already cold.  This year?  I’m busting out my bamboo babies and whipping out my handmade cuddly duds before the first snowfall.  I realize this might not sound like frolicking to some of you, but knitting really is fun and relaxing…and I can do it while I watch my hundreds of Halloween shows. (And yes, those are ants on my sleeves. What do you expect from an Adam Ant fan?)

TOP 10 LIST FOR AN AWESOME AUTUMN

8)  SPEND SOME QUALITY TIME WITH MOTHER NATURE.  Fall is my favorite time to hike and get outside.  The weather is perfect, the air smells so good, the first dead leaves crunch under your feet while the rest dance like flames on the treetops, the mountains ablaze with color.  I’m going to take advantage of it this year…and of course my beloved camera will be in tow to document the brilliance all around me…and possibly transform it into something beautifully bleak.

TOP 10 LIST FOR AN AWESOME AUTUMN

9)  ROAD TRIP.  Every fall I have to make my annual pilgrimage to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston for my checkup with my amazing oncologist Dr. Ross (I love him to bits.  He’s a badass in the best kind of way).  It’s usually a quick dash down and back (quick being an 8 hour (or more depending on traffic and weather) drive on some gorgeous back roads) with some quick but quality friend time worked into the mix.  But this time I’m going to make the most of my yearly trek by taking a side trip.  I’m going to hop on I-10 East and finally get my ass back to New Orleans to visit some of my dear friends that I haven’t seen in years.  So look out, NOLA because I’m headed your way.  It’s been entirely too long since I’ve walked your streets and felt your love.  So I’ll see you (and my beloved friends) soon.

TOP 10 LIST FOR AN AWESOME AUTUMN

10)  FALL FREEBIES.  I haven’t made any free goodies for you in forever and I feel like crap about that so I’m going to make sure that I take the time to give back to you.  I love you and this is one of the ways I can show you how much you mean to me…with some digital downloadable love.  Wait.  That sounds dirty, but you know what I mean.  So keep your eyes peeled for some free autumnal awesomeness soon.  It will happen.  I promise.  And since it’s Halloween season I’ll even go so far as to promise:

CROSS MY HEART AND HOPE TO DIE.  POKE A NEEDLE IN MY EYE.

TOP 10 LIST FOR AN AWESOME AUTUMN

Yup.  Because I’m THAT serious about taking care of you and giving back for all that you give to me.  Okay.  Sappy emotional moment over.

SO WHAT ABOUT YOU?

What are your plans for fall?  Do you have any seasonal traditions?  Come on and dish ‘em up.  I want to know (so I can steal your ideas for myself…I know you guys are brilliant and do awesome stuff so can you blame me for wanting to horn in on the action? *wink*).  Share your fun and fabulous fall ideas in the comments below.  Until next time…

WELCOME TO TWIN PEAKS TRAVEL GUIDE PART II   WELCOME TO TWIN PEAKS TRAVEL GUIDE PART II

SEVERAL weeks ago I brought you Part I of the Welcome To Twin Peaks Travel Guide, which also happened to be our first ever Reader’s Choice feature.  So if you are digging this mini-Twin Peak-athon (there’s one more in this three part series) make sure to swing by Facebook and tell Ava thank you, because this is all her doing.  Excellent choice, Ava!

If you want the chance to have your article idea featured then make sure to follow me on Facebook so you can make your voice heard the next time I announce an upcoming Reader’s Choice (I’m seriously loving this.  I hope you guys will join in the fun).  Okay.  Enough of the formalities. Let’s get to why we’re all really here – our deep, abiding and, in all probability, unnatural love for Twin Peaks.  To quote Man From Another Place

LET’S ROCK!

AVA’S CHOICE (part II OF III)

THE TWIN PEAKS WELCOME SIGN

WELCOME TO TWIN PEAKS TRAVEL GUIDE PART II

How could you possibly call yourself a fan if you go through all the trouble of visiting a dozen Twin Peaks destinations but don’t visit the location of the Welcome to Twin Peaks sign used in the opening credits?  This iconic spot is located in Snoqualmie, Washington, at (approximately) 41469 SE Reinig Road.  Granted, no sign stands there, but that’s okay.  If you’re crushed that no sign has been erected to mark the sacred spot you could always make & bring your own or, through the magic of computers, you could edit the sign into your own photo when you get home.

THE ROADHOUSE

WELCOME TO TWIN PEAKS TRAVEL GUIDE PART IIThe Roadhouse’s exterior is the Fall City Roadhouse & Inn (formerly The Colonial Inn) in…you guessed it…Fall City, Washington.  If the front façade looks completely unfamiliar then you’re right.  They actually used the side of the building for filming…and when you compare the two exteriors, the reason for the choice is clear.  The real façade just doesn’t feel right…it just wouldn’t work for the series.

WELCOME TO TWIN PEAKS TRAVEL GUIDE PART II

But let’s be honest, when we think of The Roadhouse what we really want is the interior complete with Julee Cruise crooning her melancholy medleys from the stage as we have a whiskey (because that’s what you drink when you listen to Julee Cruise sing “The World Spins”) and are whispered ominous warnings from The Log Lady…and for that you have to head over to the Raisbeck Performance Hall (formerly Timberline Spirits) which is now owned by the Cornish College of The Arts in Seattle.

WELCOME TO TWIN PEAKS TRAVEL GUIDE PART II

WELCOME TO TWIN PEAKS TRAVEL GUIDE PART II

All the interior shots for the pilot were filmed here.  Thanks to a restoration you can still go visit and enjoy a performance while you’re there, but don’t expect a whiskey.  Luckily, visitors report that the hall still has a very Twin Peaks vibe to it, so go enjoy a show (and just sneak in your flask *wink*).

WELCOME TO TWIN PEAKS TRAVEL GUIDE PART II

BIG ED’S GAS FARM

WELCOME TO TWIN PEAKS TRAVEL GUIDE PART II

We all know Ed Hurley as the uncle to James Hurley, Laura’s secret love interest, and husband to Nadine, the wacked out, freakishly strong, eye patch wearing ginger obsessed with inventing the first 100% quiet drape runners.  Ed was also a member of the local secret society known as The Bookhouse Boys.  Big Ed’s Gas Farm was his business.

I’ve found some conflicting information about the exact address of Big Ed’s Gas Farm, but Google Maps has assured me that it is, in fact, located at 8606 Preston-Fall City Rd SE, Preston, Washington, and is now Indoor Garden & Lighting.  This is the location used in the pilot.  There is a second Big Ed’s Gas Farm located in California that was used for the rest of the series…but let’s be honest, all the Washington locations are just flat out cooler than the California locations and that’s why I’m sticking with good ol’ Washington State.

**  An added bonus:  Ed and Nadine’s house, which is conveniently located right by his gas station in the series, is located right by it in real life as well.  I’ve read that it’s clearly visible from the front of the “Gas Farm.”  You can’t miss it.  Since it is a private residence you’ll be hard pressed to find anyone online offering up the exact address purely out of respect for the privacy of those who live there, but you can still take a gander at it.  Two birds, one stone.  **

HORNE’S DEPARTMENT STORE

WELCOME TO TWIN PEAKS TRAVEL GUIDE PART II

Where, oh where, would One Eyed Jack’s be without the perfume counter at Horne’s Department Store?  The exterior of Horne’s is  located downtown at 240 2nd Ave S, Seattle, Washington.  From what I can gather through numerous searches it is currently available for lease.  It has clearly had a bit of a face lift but much of the original façade remains the same.  Hoping to have a Horne’s shopping experience?  Sorry to say but the interior shots were filmed on a sound stage in Los Angeles.

THE BOOKHOUSE

WELCOME TO TWIN PEAKS TRAVEL GUIDE PART II

The Bookhouse, home to the aforementioned secret society known as The Bookhouse Boys, is conveniently located just behind the Fall City Roadhouse (which you can see in the background of the second image) in Fall City, Washington.  So when you visit The Roadhouse just pop around to the side of the building and there you are!  Another two for one location.

WELCOME TO TWIN PEAKS TRAVEL GUIDE PART II

Obviously this location was used for the exterior shots only.  Since the building isn’t a TARDIS there’s simply no way you can fit the interior Bookhouse inside the Bookhouse exterior.  Many interior shots were filmed (with the aid of many shelves and books which were added to the location) in California at The Old Place, a restaurant and bar.

LAURA’S LOG (WRAPPED IN PLASTIC)

WELCOME TO TWIN PEAKS TRAVEL GUIDE PART II

Who can forget when Laura Palmer’s body was discovered wrapped in plastic by the sweet and beloved Pete Martell…the crucial scene that establishes the purpose behind the entire series.  The giant log that marks the scene of the tragic discovery is located at the Kiana Lodge (which also serves as the Martell home as well as the interior of the Great Northern) in Poulsbo, Washington.  They even have a plaque there commemorating the famous scene.

THE BIRD BRANCH (OPENING CREDITS) – FOR THE TRULY HARDCORE

WELCOME TO TWIN PEAKS TRAVEL GUIDE PART II

Tremendously huge kudos to the hardcore fan that actually tracked down the exact branch with the exact view of the bird on the branch from the opening credits.  How the hell do you even manage that?  I mean seriously!  How?  Remote viewing?  Dowsing?  Consulting the Oracle of Delphi?  A lost quatrain penned by Nostradamus?  How?  That’s insane!  But whatever magic and supreme obsession led to this discovery, we get to the reap the benefits.  Aren’t we the lucky ones?

(And if you’re curious you can read the actual account of how this super-fan tracked down the tree branch here.)

SO WHERE THE HELL IS IT?

WELCOME TO TWIN PEAKS TRAVEL GUIDE PART II

It’s actually about 30 yards behind Laura’s Log.  According to the super-fan who tracked it down it’s “the first tree hanging over the beach near the gazebo.”  BA-BAM!  There you have it.  Possibly the most obscure travel destination in the history of the world – a single tree branch as viewed from a very particular angle.  Now that’s dedication.

THE BLACK LODGE

WELCOME TO TWIN PEAKS TRAVEL GUIDE PART II

High on the creepy scale and definitely one for the books should you manage to visit, the Black Lodge, another dimension with its odd speaking doppelgangers, red curtains and seizure inducing flooring is certainly the most elusive of locations to visit.  The doorway to this other dimension is hidden in an area known as Glastonbury Grove.

WELCOME TO TWIN PEAKS TRAVEL GUIDE PART II

Its appearance is innocuous enough – a small clearing marked by an unusual pool of a black liquid with a foul odor and was originally surrounded by twelve small sycamore trees.  Recent visits indicate that the trees are gone and the black liquid has vanished, but then these reports are given during daytime visits.  Who knows what you may find there at night.

CURIOSITY KILLING THE CAT?

Satisfy your inner kitten by following this map to the location.  I only hope that if you’re successful in reaching the Black Lodge that satisfaction will bring you back, kitty cat, with all your garmonbozia in tact…where would we all be without it…?…it is, after all, so often how we learn out greatest lessons.

Should you actually dare to visit the Black Lodge and manage to return in tact, please do fill us all in on your experiences.  I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say we wait on tenterhooks to hear about what you encountered on the other side.

Well boys and girls, this concludes our virtual romp through Twin Peaks, but don’t be glum, chum.  There’s still one more part in this three part series, so make sure to tune in next week as I serve up one last plate of delicious cherry pie and a damn fine cup of coffee.

Owl Pecked Kisses & Log Lady Chaos,
Alli Woods Frederick

PS – I just wanted to take a moment to thank you all for being so understanding and wonderfully supportive of my time away from Kisses & Chaos to take care of my precious furbaby, Mischa.  Your well wishes and patience mean the world to both of us.  We’re finally falling into a groove with all his medications and I’m hoping to return here full time in no time at all.  Thank you, again, for everything.  I love your guts.  Hugs from me and Mischa to each and every one of you (unless you aren’t the hugging type, in which case you get a high five (I’m looking at you, Lemons. *wink*) instead).  *Squeeze!*

MUSIC FOR MAGICAL SUMMER NIGHTS

FALL is fast approaching.  The end of summer is upon us so with that in mind I thought this the perfect time to make a mix tape (okay, not really a mix tape, but I’m old school and stuck in my ways)…a mix tape for those last magical summer nights.

SOUNDTRACKS FOR LIFE:

MUSIC FOR MAGICAL SUMMER NIGHTS

MUSIC FOR MAGICAL SUMMER NIGHTS

You’re outside on your back.  The sky is clear. The stars are out.  You can see the Milky Way…so much of it and you are struck by its beauty.  There is no noise other than the chirps of crickets and the deep barrup of the bullfrogs.  Fireflies twinkle and dance in the trees.  There’s a soft breeze.  You gently stretch and you feel the earth stretch with you.  Everything is beautiful and everything is love.

A hippie moment?  Oh yeah, totally. (My friends used to joke that I wasn’t a punk, just a really pissed off hippie. Ha!)  But it’s also a blissful moment.

Whether you’re alone or snuggled up in a hammock with someone who makes your heart sing and do funny things, it’s one of those evenings that you will always remember and will always fill you with warmth.  This is the music for that night.

MUSIC FOR MAGICAL SUMMER NIGHTS

Haven’t had that beautiful summer night yet?  Well autumn is almost upon us so there is no time like the present.  Get away from the light, from the noise and enjoy at least one more beautiful night of summer.  Get out there and embrace its beauty and calm; let it soak into your skin, soak into your heart, soak into your soul and fill you with all its magical and delicious and wonderful and warm gloriousness.  Soak it in.  Fall will be here soon enough.
