I’m insanely sleepy today, but I’m managing to keep my eyes open…barely.  So no diatribe today.  Enjoy!

Things I Love Thursday: The Hanging in There Edition

* Fennec foxes.  How insanely cute are these little guys?  I’ve been reading up on them and people say they make wonderful pets.  I am sooooooooooo tempted to adopt one.

UFOs.  Yup.  This is a subject which seems to be a cyclical obsession for me.  Last week a friend of mine turned me on to a video that completely blew my mind. I generally try to stay abreast of UFO reports in the news, but I somehow managed to miss some of these.  Watch this video and tell me if you still buy the bogus explanations the US government offers the public.  Swamp gas?  Yeahhhh…I don’t think so.  The government should stop, drop and roll, because I do believe their pants are on fire.

*  The spoof of the upcoming Royal wedding.  How they managed to find those lookalikes, I just don’t know. Not a clue as to what I’m talking about?  Here you go:

Perfume, perfume, perfume.  I can’t get enough of the stuff.  I’m sure that by the time I’m 40 I’ll have enough beautiful, sparkly bottles to cover an entire wall in my bathroom.  At least that’s my goal, anyway.  My honey was sweet enough to pick me up a bottle of one my all time favorites yesterday: Wish by Lollia.  It smells so yummy and sweet without being cloying or juvenile…just perfect for spring and summer.  Next on my list of must have’s: Lann-Ael by Lostmarch.  I have been searching for a scent that has dominant notes of sweet cream ever since I picked up some Tokyomilk Sweet Cream Lip Balm.  It just smells so fresh, sweet and delectable.  This one sounds like it might be exactly what I’ve been hoping for.  I’m picking up a sample later this week.  Finger’s crossed it smells as good as it sounds.

*  Remember that live reading of “We’re Alive: A Story of Survival”I told you about last week?  Well if you missed it (like I did) you can catch it on youtube.  It’s interesting to finally be able to put faces to the voices and compare them to the people my imagination had constructed.  And if you STILL aren’t listening to We’re Alive, then SHAME ON YOU!!!

Thoughtful notes from readers.  I’ve received some super-sweet and uber-fantastic emails from some of you this week and they absolutely made my heart swell.  Thank you for your kind words.  They mean the world to me.

My honey.  He’s my hero.

What butters your bread this week?  Feel free to share with the rest of the class.

Kisses & Chaos,

Alli Woods Frederick

The Ties that Bind

guest contributor: anonymous

A family member who had been abusive to me died. This individual’s personal possessions were mailed to me. I was in no hurry to open the cartons and relive the past. The cartons were stored in my garage against a wall for several months. One night I awoke feeling someone was watching me. I had the distinct feeling it was this individual. It was a disturbing experience because I felt that this person whom I had feared had the ability to observe me in my bed asleep. I had spent much of my life hiding from this person and now, it appeared, he could access me at will. I felt foolish, but I asked him to leave me alone. Fast forward several days. I was working to meet a paperwork deadline in the afternoon, typing away, when I heard a tremendous crash in my garage. When I investigated, I found one of the cartons that had been stored against the wall in the dead middle of the garage floor, as if it had been lifted and dropped. The sides were bulging and the top was partially open. I looked at the contents and found little that interested me personally, aside from photos and a note in this individual’s handwriting saying he had led a miserable life and would not be missed when he was gone. Sadly, that was true. That has been about five or six years ago and I have had no other contact from this entity. Ghost? Whatever you want to call it, it can’t be denied. I don’t discuss it because I am afraid I will lose my credibility with people. I am the last person you would suspect of having had these kinds of contacts or “believing in ghosts.” I’ve had other experiences. If I feel brave, I’ll share them.

I am beat today.  My dreams kick my ass sometimes.  I ran around all night kung fu fighting zombies on a military base.  It was exhausting.  So it is with butt-whoopin’ weirdness and a Queen Mab induced dream-like haze that I now present to you:

Things I Love Thursday: The Kung Fu, Dreams & You Edition

Strinberg and Helium.  Bleak, morbid and completely adorable.  It’s good for a giggle.  *  We’re Alive is broadcasting a live reading of their awesome zombie podcast Saturday, April 16.  For those of us that aren’t lucky enough to be able to attend, fear not!  They’re streaming it live online!  I can’t wait!  It’s sure to be Zomb-tastic!  *  “But what about Toooooooooooodd?”  *  New bookcases and coffee tables.  *  Finally getting back to the gym.  It’s been ages!  *  Daydreaming about storybook cottage homes and being bi-coastal.  *  Making plans to have our Vespa match our Mini Cooper…cause we’re gross like that.  *   The fact that tomorrow’s Friday.  *  The scene from Kill Bill that I posted below…cause sometimes you just need a little kung fu.  *  National Licorice Appreciation Day (which was this past Tuesday, in case you were wondering).  *  Pointing out to men who cheat that, contrary to their weak-ass argument that it’s “part of nature for men to cheat…you don’t see animals mating for life…,” many animals DO mate for life.  Just look at parrots, doves, penguins, some primates…hell…black vultures will attack a fellow vulture if they catch them cheating on their mate.  Yup.  Take THAT.  Pa-pow!  *  Spending an entire Sunday in my PJ’s watching Samantha Who? on Netflix with my honey.  *  Planning our getaway.  *  Remembering Flametrick shows at the Black Cat Lounge & Smashley and my girls in The Satan’s Cheerleaders…Where are you Chuck?  *  My family, my feline partner in crime, Mischa, and my honey.  *  All of you!

What is making your heart sing this week?

Kisses & Chaos,

Alli Woods Frederick
