Just because going into a diabetic coma from all the sweetness is, well…it’s just GOOD. More sweetness, please. Just because you can’t help but feel good looking at them, I give you:
Farewell, Tura Satana.
The Loss of a Legend
Tura Satana passed away. I won’t write paragraph upon paragraph about her career or her life. I will say I had the pleasure of meeting her and she was clever; a witty woman with a mischievous sparkle in her eye. She was genuine and hilarious. She will, no doubt, be missed by fans and family alike. May she continue kicking ass in Heaven, or Valhalla or Nirvana or wherever it is that unabashedly liberated and overtly sexual women go when they die.

How To Get Your Creative Mojo Back

My Creativity by Hunter Yeary
Creativity, Why Hast Thou Forsaken Me?
Creative roadblocks…we all run into them every now and then. Everyone’s creative tank eventually runs on empty. Whether it’s a project for school or work, a new painting, the last paragraph of that novel you’d been meaning to write or the finishing touch on the dress you’ve been sewing, creative slumps can strike anyone at anytime and boy, oh boy, are they maddening! To make matters worse, creative hurdles can easily become unwieldy and grow out of control…one mental block begets another which then generates fear; fear that you’ll never have another creative thought ever ever ever ever again; fear that you will never overcome your current situation; hurdles on top of fear on top of hurdles, like a dog chasing its tail.
So, your brain has come to a screeching halt in front of a mental roadblock. How in the world do you beat it? What do you do next? How can you overcome the seemingly insurmountable task of getting back your creative mojo? Is it hopeless? Should you throw in the towel? In a word: no. For the next four Fridays we will take a look at the four monsters of the creative apocalypse, what causes these monsters to rear their ugly heads and suggestions for defeating them. Let’s kick these monsters’ frustrating little butts together so your creativity can grow, shall we?
Next Friday’s topic: The Culprits of Creative Slumps, Part I: Stress
Tilt: Force of Nature Edition
Well, helloooooooooo winter weather! Mother Nature has certainly been doling out the weather related butt-kicking lately, has she not? Between massive snowstorms in the US to flooding and a cyclone in Australia, Mother Nature is flexing her muscles in a big way. Boy howdy, is she ever. I think a little extra love is order this week, don’t you?
Thing I Love Thursday:
The Forces of Nature Edition
I had an AMAZING time participating in Gala Darling’s first ever Radical Self-Love workshop. She broadcast live via UStream and it was fantastic…interactive and filled with awesome people and awesome suggestions for how to practice Radical Self-Love daily. I highly recommend taking one sometime. * The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills marathons. I have a hard time wrapping my mind around the fact that people actually live that way. It boggles the mind. * Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School. I have several friend’s who model/participate in the branches in their cities and it looks like so much fun! * Audrey Hepburn. She was so awe inspiring! Did you know she helped with the Dutch resistance during World War II? And she was just a kid! If you aren’t familiar with her or her humanitarian work, I highly suggest you read up on her. You will be in awe…force of nature, indeed! * Niagara…both the natural wonder that is the falls AND the artist. I would love to stay in one of those super-campy hotels up at Niagara Falls that has the big heart shaped bed and a champagne glass bath tub…are those places even around anymore? God, I hope so! I would also love to interview Niagara some day…I want to see first hand if she’s as commanding and domineering as her art. * Theaurora borealis. Who thought photons could be so beautiful? * Outer space. This one has fascinated me forever and a day. The beauty of the horsehead nebula, the power of supernovas, blackholes, our moon…there’s so much beauty and mystery out there. It’s fascinating. * My wonderful family. They are all that I could ask for and more.
