Things I Love Thursday

Impressions of Temple Bar” by UggBoy?UggGirl

What a week! It has been filled with so much craziness, both the good and not so hot variety…but all in all it was amazing! I am so totally blessed. With that warm fuzzy goodness in mind I present this week’s Things I Love Thursday!

* Shaking things up * Letting the chips fall where they may * Making completely awesome and totally inspiring new friends * Being in awe of brave people who follow their dreams * Mojito’s made with fresh mint * How cute is it that Steve Gonsalves has a cat named Sassy Lashes? That name definitely receives an 11 on the cute scale (which ranges from 1-10). * Confiding in someone and not being betrayed * Making a difference * Jumping on amazing opportunities * Super-crazy melatonin dreams * Pumpkin spice lattes * Chilly rainy days * Talking about haunted houses * Looking forward to Thanksgiving with my family * Warm cardigans * Unexpected flowers to brighten the day.

What are you loving in your life?

Aural Awesomeness

Oh my, oh yes, my lovelies!  It’s Music Monday!  I’ve decided to feature some videos from some of my old favorites…oldies but goodies in Alli’s musical catalog.  Today’s Music Monday features (in no particular order) Indian Jewelry (Houston kids that are oozing with so much talent they make squishing sounds when they walk…and they’re uber-nice to boot…some people have it all.), Rasputina (who can’t get behind quirky lyrics, cellos and corsets, I ask you), Crash Worship (who put on the best shows I have EVER seen…they are truly indescribable), Johnny Cash (is an explanation really necessary?) and a little extra something from Morphine (because life should involve more saxophones).  These bands represent different stages I’ve been through over the past *mumble mumble* years.  Listening to them floods my mind with memories, both amazing and awful.  When I hear them I am instantly transported…long lost friendships, regretful romances, insane road trips, going on quests at midnight and some serious artistic binges…they’re all there hiding inside the music.   They are part of the soundtrack of my life and I’m sharing them with you.

Is there a song that takes you back in time?  One that has so many connections to your life that it has become part of you?

Until next time…

Kisses & Chaos,

Alli Woods Frederick

Mama Don’t Take My Kodachrome Away

I’m sure, much to Paul Simon’s dismay, Kodak did take his Kodachrome away.  The film, originally developed as movie film and known for it’s amazing candy colors, went the way of the dinosaur last year…bad news for film lovers the world over…but the good news is that if you are sitting on a few unprocessed rolls (like I am) you have until December 30 of this year to get them developed.  After that, Dwyane’s Photo of Parsons, Kansas, the only lab that still processes the beloved film, will no longer offer the service.  Heartbreaking, to be sure. With that, I’m off to burn the last few rolls that I have and ship them off to Parsons, Kansas.  I leave you with a handful of  amazing Kodachrome images and an amazing bit of footage.  Thanks to the George Eastman House’s Motion Picture Department’s preservation efforts we can now enjoy this:  some of the earliest color motion pictures in existence.  Absolutely gorgeous.

Kisses & Chaos, my dears,

AWF
